My dear Mini How have you been? I still have that last big comment you gave me saved somewhere, I'm sorry I haven't got back to you on it yet But as I remember you did mention you were through a hard time in your life, and I really hope things got at least a little better♥
Your comment made me blush (oh sthap you flatterer =^v^, I'm really happy you think so of me, really♥ As for Celestia, I also don't like this character very much for various reasons, but nonetheless, her show design is regal and majestic and worth of an artwork So why not, right? (plus GOLD DETAILS)
Thank you Actually at first I was going for the original unicorn look with the lion's tail, but knowing unicorns are more...fawn-like in built and less 'horse' I decided to do a mix of both, I can see Celestia being a full unicorn with all the needed physical characteristics, but giving her a fawn head just doesn't feel like a grand idea. For now at least. ^^
oh yay! my fave pony! so pretty. Some small nit's to pick though. I think her horn looks like it is coming from a point more closer to the viewer then the middle of her head. And I feel like aesthetically the wings would look better if they where attached to her upper shoulder blade as appose to how it looks to me with it being attached to the arm pit. The lighting source looks like it is coming from the bottom at an angle to the side of Celestia but it could just as easily be from the bottom and behind or even (moire likely) that you chose to go with an unrealistic lighting? (which is not a bad thing but more so a personal observation) But if not then I think if you put a slight outline in the far wing showing the shadow of the front hooves that it would look much better as far as lighting.
The thing about light is, usually when I make such a ...vauge bg I don't use a natural light source. I make the light and body tonning lookg good to the eye and pleasent for the viewer but not mandatory realistic with the source from which it's coming. I hope that makes sense. As for the shade on the wing, the last point you've made, I don't think I can agree, the wing is to far for the front leg to leave a shadow on it, even if it seems like it on a flat drawing, if it were 3D my point would be more clear but I hope you get what I mean.
As for the wing, yeah I see what you mean, it looks like it's growing from the side of her ribcage than from her back, my bad.
I just wanted to thank you I'm always on a learning path, If I knew and could draw all my drawings in a perfect way already I would be dead by now. I still feel I have some living left to do, so learning comes with it. Every constructive criticism is more than welcome, even if I have different views I believe it still helps me grow. So thanks for all your feedback as well
Wooow... This is gorgeous, and not just in the sense that it's pretty and very well done. I looked at it and I thought it looked like another pegasi for a moment, since the wings were spread and the movement of flight accented, but when I opened it I saw the cutie mark, the adornments, and I knew who she was before I saw the horn.
You're showing more to her than just the sun princess in this- there are so many pictures of her an the sun, it's so stereotypical- and the purple here compliments her so well, and it actually reminds me of Twilight and their bond. The detail you put on her mane too is really well done, like with Luna the mane is still flowy but solid rather than misty, but unlike Luna, Celestia's mane doesn't curl the same way and it flows more outward like sunlight would.
I love too how you gave her cloven hooves, that's such a regal, fitting touch, and the gold looks really good on her too and compliments her royal jewelry. =w=
Thank you for such a feedback As far as the series go, I'm not a big fan of Celestia, she's supposed to be a Princess but also a ruler and a protector to her subjects, while in the show every decission Celestia makes as the head of a nation is a faild one and Twilight, a little newbie Alicorn, has to rush to save the day and the whole land while Celestia is suddenly out of the picture. While I hate what the writers do to her character I try and believe she's still the most powerful equine in Equestria and although she might use her 'loyal student' to do her job, she's still amonarch who should look regal and majestic, all more so while doing her duties ( which is making sure the sun will rise every morning to keep the natural balance). So even though Celestias decissions might not be the best ones I think she's still a dedicated mare, and because of that same reason I gave her only golden cuffs instead of full shoeas-in that way I wanted to symbolise her being ready to fight for her subjects instead of just being a pretty royal mare and a princess
You're more than welcome, and I'm actually not that big of a Celestia fan either- Luna captured my vote from the get-go as soon as I saw her as Nightmare Moon and learned her story. I agree though, and it is annoying that it's Twilight that always rushes in to save her (and Luna's! ) kingdom, and there is an element to her majesty and power that's missed. We only get to see that actually in The Royal Wedding, when she stands against Chrysalis for that short moment, and even then she looses, which should have actually been a bigger deal than it was, I think, but that's my soap box. XD
I noticed that look! The golden, exposed hooves definitely gives that look while still keeping her just as regal as she should be.
The roman times is exactly what inspired me ^^ Thank you! And as for Celestia, I always believed in the show she's depicted as a taller and 'slimmer' mare because she was partly based on an Arab horse (but then...the Saddle Arabians came which imo are 100% horses, no pony traits whatsoever), so I went with the horse design further as well
Oooh, now THAT is an awesome Celestia! She's beautiful! You've captured her so well and even made her look even more elegant than she is depicted! Excellent work! Love the little sparklies in her mane and tail and the way you did her leg guards. Definitely cool!
Thank you I'm slowly growing a distance to the 'shoes' the ponies are wearing in the G4 version. Even if they're based on real horseshoes with a fancy twist I don't find it as clever as I sis at the beginning, leg guards/cuffs are so much better looking for me ^^
Wow! Absolutely beautiful! LOVE the cuffs on her hooves. Absolutely gorgeous representation of her shoes. So ethereal and lovely. Your style really is so sharp and crisp and unique. Instant favorite - congratulations for the feature on EqD! Totally deserved and so watching you for more of this magic beauty!
